About Angéline
As an artist, I engage in a continuous exploration of technique and figuration, particularly within painting. Over the past few years, my work has undergone a distinct evolution: moving from purely figurative to figural abstract.
My starting point is usually the human body and always reality, but I strip the image of its most recognizable and illustrative elements. I believe that too many readable details distract from what I truly want to show, causing the image to be approached too rationally and through language. My challenge is to teach people to 'experience' a work empirically again, to let it truly 'enter'. By focusing on this elimination of realistic elements, I capture the absolute core. As a result, you as a viewer are not looking at a ready-made story of mine, but are instead invited to enter into a dialogue with the work and discover what it does or does not stir within you.
The common thread throughout my oeuvre is formed by themes such as existential loneliness, humanity, vulnerability, and impermanence. Technically, this usually translates into acrylic on canvas, sometimes into work on paper, and sporadically into sculptures.
